A Continuous Cycle

2017

Taking inspiration from intricately spun cocoons, the installation plays on the juxtaposition between a seemingly fragile appearance and a strength in materiality.

The piece is intentionally subtle, it aims to draw the viewer in for closer inspection and is an abstract representation of a cycle of process, a process which evolves as one element overtakes the other – the wrappings of wire covering the twisted, buckling wire beneath.

The hand-embroidered tag on a dress maker’s pin reveals material and technical information about the work, through incorporating these elements into the final outcome I aim to emphasise the value I place on process and how in this case it has directly informed the outcome.
